(October 18th, 2014)-PETTISVILLE: A may have been a rematch, but Edgerton had no idea into what they were walking.

Pettisville had played the Lady Bulldogs earlier in the year, as part of a tri-match. The Lady Blackbirds won that match in straight sets, though both were hard fought. Edgerton was expecting a different result when they trekked to Pettisville’s home court in the Sectionals Finals.

And they got a different result, just not the one for which they were hoping.

The Lady Blackbirds controlled the series, winning all three games convincingly. Game 1 was a 25-13 victory for the home team. Edgerton really struggled in game 2, losing the set 10-25. The Lady Bulldogs had a heroic run in game 3, with the Pettisvile girls a single point away from winning the match. Edgerton responded by firing off several points in a row and refusing to let the ball touch the court. They couldn’t keep it up all night, however, and the Blackbirds eventually won the set 25-16.

Jordyn Pursel had an incredible match for Pettisville, making 22 digs, 12 kills, and 5 aces. Teammate Dana Fricke added an astounding 18 kills and 4 blocks, as well as 5 digs. Kate Kauffman managed 28 assists, 7 digs, 5 kills, 3 aces, and a block in the win.
