(February 9th, 2015) – PETTISVILLE: A Buckeye Border Conference Champion has been crowned for the eighth grade girls.

Pettisville overtook Stryker 45-19 in order to claim that honor.

The Lady Blackbirds established themselves in the first half. They laid claim to an early lead with a 12-2 opening period. That was followed up with a 10-3 showing by Pettisville to close out the half. Going into the locker room, the hometown favorites were up 22-5.

Stryker found new life in the second half. The Lady Panthers kept pace with Pettisville in the third period, falling just short of matching their total for the quarter at 11-9. The fourth and final stanza saw the Panther lose more ground, as they dropped the quarter 12-5.

Morgan Leppelmeier had an outstanding evening, putting up 24 points in the championship win. Her teammate, Brandi Schnitkey contributed 12 points as well.

Stryker was led in scoring by Emma Grime. The Panther eighth grader had 10 points in the loss.
