(January 31st, 2015) – FAYETTE: The Edon Seventh Grade Boys got off to a great start in the Buckeye Border Conference Tournament, defeating the Panthers of Stryker in the opening round.
The Bombers took the game 40-25.
In the first quarter, Edon jumped out to a sizable lead, finishing out the period with a 16-4 advantage. With a 6-4 showing in the second period, the Bomber boys were up 22-8 at the half. The third quarter saw Stryker display more fight, barely losing the stanza 9-7. They were finally able to gain a bit of ground on Edon, outscoring the Bombers 10-9 in the contest’s final quarter. Still, it wasn’t enough, as Edon earned a 15 point victory.
Austin Kiess gave the Bombers a boost with his 17 points. Fellow Edon boy Keagan Romine added 6 points in the victory as well.
Stryker’s Huffman also totaled 17 points, thanks to his strong interior play. Villaneuva contributed 4 points to the Panther effort as well.
