(February 16th, 2015) – WEST UNITY: Pettisville’s defense proved to be a force in their freshmen squad’s victory over Hilltop in the first round of the Buckeye Border Conference tournament.
The Blackbirds took the contest over the Cadets 52-11.
In the first quarter, the game was close. Each team struggled offensively, leading to a 5-5 tie at the conclusion of the opening period. The Blackbirds would find their offense in the second frame, however, while upping the ante defensively. They took the second stanza 14-2, giving themselves a 19-7 lead going into halftime.
The boys from Fulton County pulled away in the third quarter. The put up 20 points, while again giving up just 2 to Hilltop. To close out the contest, Pettisville went on a 13-2 run.
Noah Rocha led the Blackbirds with 14 points. Teammate Dylan King was right on his tail with 13 points.
