The Pettisville High School recently welcomed play goers to their version of Twelve Angry Jurors. The plays were conducted on Friday/Saturday November 1st and 2nd at 7:00 p.m., with an additional showing on Sunday, November 3rd at 2:30 p.m.
The play is about a 19-year-old man that had just stood trial for a fatal stabbing that had been perpetrated against his father.
In the beginning of the play, as the jurors walk into the room, nearly everyone exclaims that the case is fairly well open and shut, and that the verdict is clear.
That sentiment however is not shared by one man, who votes not guilty in their first round of votes, forcing the group to bring in and discuss some of the evidence used in the trial.
Remembering the idea of “innocent until proven guilty” and “beyond a reasonable doubt”, jurors one by one switch sides to not guilty. These jurors are led by one man, who felt as though something was off and was not able to find the boy guilty.
However, before reaching consensus, disagreements and accusations were rampant and lead to what we have as the title, Twelve Angry Jurors. Members of the cast performed their parts well and were able to put forth a convincing show of anger towards their fellow jurors.
It was indeed a good play put on by all those involved in this year’s production from Pettisville Schools.
