(February 9th, 2015) – PETTISVILLE: It took overtime to decide the outcome, but the Pettisville Seventh Grade team was able to secure the Buckeye Border Conference championship on their own court.

The Lady Blackbirds claimed their conference crown over the Lady Bombers 30-27.

Edon got off to a great start, controlling most of the first half. They took the first period by an 8-4 margin over Pettisville. The Blackbird girls had a stronger showing in the second half, but were unable to dip into the Bomber lead, as Edon scored 7 points to their 6. Going into the locker room, the Lady Bombers were up 15-10.

It was a struggle for Pettisville to climb back into the contest, with Edon refusing to relent. In the third stanza, the Lady Blackbirds made up a bit of their deficit, thanks to a 6-5 effort. But it was the fourth quarter when they finally made their move. Outscoring the Bomber girls 10-6, the hosting school force the extra quarter of play.

Once they began the overtime, the Pettisville girls buckled down defensively, only allowing a single point from an Edon offense that had been potent all game long. Racking up 4 points of their own, the Blackbirds were able to pull off the victory.

Mikayla Graber had a dominant game scoring the ball for Pettisville, putting up 16 points in the win. Teammates Danielle King and Ryeana Kolpfenstein each contributed 6 points as well.

Edon was lead by Blair, who gave her unit 9 points. Radabaugh scored 8 points on her own, while Brandt managed 4 points in the loss.
