(September 8th, 2014)-PETTISVILLE: With the Panthers of Delta coming to town, Pettisville prepared to defend their home court. And defend they did, taking Delta down in straight sets, though that doesn’t mean the Panthers went down without a fight.
From the first game, this series was competitive. The Blackbirds were able to pull away, however, taking the set 25-16. Game 2 was the toughest battle of the series, as Delta made a strong push to even out the series. It wasn’t enough, though, and the girls of Pettisville squeezed out a narrow 25-23 victory. The third set saw the Lady Blackbirds withstand a late surge by the Panthers, and winning the game 25-18.
Jordyn Pursel displayed great balance in her game, making 9 kills, 9 digs, and 3 aces against Delta. Blackbird teammate Kate Kauffman handed out 16 assists to go along with 8 digs, 2 kills, and 2 blocks. Stephanie Hubby had an astounding 23 digs, also serving up an ace.
