Greetings, Pioneer residents, as we enter 2021 after a tumultuous year of 2020. I’m happy to report Pioneer is in outstanding shape as we begin the new year. The financial strength of the village allowed us to give back to our citizens during the unprecedented events of this past year.
We were able to give every household free utilities for three straight months, allowing our citizens the ability to better manage their own lives.
Most of our factories remained open and productive during this pandemic and the combination of government support and a local job helped our local economy thrive throughout 2020. Amazingly income tax to the village was up year over year.
Major Construction projects proceeded throughout the year with the completion of new streets, storm, and sewer improvements. T&W Parkway, Briarwood, and Pioneer Avenues are all new construction with curbs and blacktop streets.
In 2020, we also began a revamp of our 30 year old water treatment plant. Some of the improvements were OEPA mandated and some are being done to make the plan last another thirty years. Work continues on the plant and will be completed sometime this summer.
For 2021 things are looking very, very positive as many of our industries are expanding creating more jobs. Currently three industries have announced expansions.
On the village side, we plan to make major improvements to all the ballfields and parks within the village. We also plan to rebuild State Street from North to South and rebuild Mulberry Street and Lincoln Street.
In Pioneer we enjoy a strong stable government, outstanding dedicated employees, excellent police and fire and service for our residents at the lowest rates in all of Northwest Ohio.
Yes, 2020 is a year we all want to forget. 2021 and beyond, the future is bright with hope and promise for our residents, Businesses and Industry. Stay tuned, lots of exciting news ahead! Be Proud, Pioneer!
