THE VILLAGE REPORTER
Back in October of 2022, the OHFA (Ohio Housing Finance Agency) visited and toured Williams County.
This visit resulted in local officials being reassured that state officials share their commitment to bettering the lives of Ohioans.
This knowledge got the gears turning in the heads of Edgerton officials, who started submitting letters in support of a housing initiative back in January of 2023.
This housing initiative process has evolved into a property rehabilitation project that aims to see 358 Gearhart Street, a 24-unit apartment community that is known as Edgemont Colony, rehabilitated.
On September 11, 2023, PK Companies released a statement which shared the scope of the proposed rehabilitation project, which is to be financed by OFHA low-income housing credits. Current tenants would be relocated during construction.
These apartments would be rented to residents for 30% of their income, minus a utility allowance, and heat, water, sewage, and trash removal are all included in the rate.
Construction would be set to begin in the summer of 2024 and is estimated to take about 6 months to complete.
It was stated that “PK Development Group LLC welcomes comments regarding the proposed project’s impact on the community.
Any objection to the project must be submitted in writing,” and is to be received no later than October 31, 2023.
Those wishing to send comments or objections in should address them to the following: Mr. Jacob Horner, Vice President – Development, 1784 Hamilton Rd, Okemos, MI 48864.
A written response will be given to any objections received during this time period.
