Roland J. Christie, Jr., age 81, of Delta, passed away on Friday, February 26, 2021, at CHP Defiance Inpatient Hospice. Roland was born on August 8, 1939 in Pittsburgh, PA., to the late Roland J. & Elizabeth (Meidt) Christie, Sr. He married Kathryn “Kathy” Sweet on May 16, 1980.
A Waite H.S. Graduate, Roland joined the Marines and proudly served his country from 1957 to 1959. Following his service years, he took a job as Plant Manager for Power Train and held that job for over 38 years, retiring in1999.
In his spare time, Roland enjoyed camping, particularly at Lazy River in Pioneer, Ohio as well as being an avid fisherman. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 40 years, Kathy; Seven children; many grandchildren; several great grandchildren; two brothers; five sisters and one sister who preceded him in death.
In keeping with the family’s wishes, there will no public visitation or service. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl., Memphis, TN., 38105.
