FUNDING TIPS … Former Rotary District 6600 governor and incoming Rotary district foundation chairperson Diana Savage recently spoke with Archbold Rotarians about ways the club can tap District 6600 Foundation funds to plan and help to complete local projects that would make a difference in the Archbold area. Savage, a Bryan Rotarian, explained that community projects that are selected would be eligible for district foundation funding on a 2-to-1 (local to district) basis. PRESS RELEASE – Bryan Rotary member Diana Savage visited Archbold Rotary to encourage the club to apply for district foundation funding to assist with a community project. She explained that the project must focus on one of the seven areas of emphasis that Rotary International uses when awarding grants.
Those areas are: promoting peace; fighting disease; providing clean water, sanitation and hygiene; protecting the environment; growing the local economy; supporting education and literacy and improving maternal and child health.
Many of the requests for district funding focus on youth educational, recreational or nutritional needs or a project that would improve the community’s quality of life, Savage explained.
The grants provide one-third of the total cost of the project with the local club or other partners providing the rest.
Savage will become the chairperson of the Rotary District 6600 Foundation starting July 1. She volunteered to help Archbold Rotary complete an application for grant funding, which is due by the end of May.
Projects that receive district funding must be completed by the end of the following Rotary year.
