Russell Paul Dohr Sr, 88 of Pioneer died Sunday at his home. He was born on December 11, 1923 in Maumee Ohio to John and Lena (Henfling) Dohr. Russell graduated from Monclova High School in 1941. He studied law at LaSalle College in Chicago for two years before obtaining a bachelor degree. He married Genevieve “Goldie” Dohr and she preceded him in death in 1989.
Russell owned and operated Dohrs Bar & Grill in Pioneer for 25 years. Prior to that he was a plant superintendent at Peter Stamping Co. in Fayette Ohio.
Russell was a member of Wakeman Lodge 522 F.A. M. in Waterville for 53 years. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite –Zenobia Shrine and BPA in Pioneer for 13 years.
Russell is survived by his children Russell (Sherry) Dohr Jr. of Kalispell Montana and Deborah (Bruce) Peterson of Colville Washington, sister Mary Curtis of Monclova Ohio, step children Marzee Cooley, Dean (Pat) Rose of Wauseon Ohio and Thomas (Robin) Rose of Port Haywood Virginia, eleven grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.
Russell was preceded in death by his parents, wife Goldie, son Michael Dohr of Gainesville Florida in 2006, brothers Charles, John, Robert, Richard, and George Dohr, stepson Ed Patton.
A time to receive friends will be from 12-2 pm on Monday January 14th at the Thompson Funeral Home in Pioneer. A 2 pm memorial service will be held at the funeral home with Reverend Michael D.
