GIRLS VARSITY BASKETBALL
Montpelier 39, Paulding 32
The Locomotives grabbed their second win of the season in non-conference play. The teams battled to a Montpelier lead of 17-15 as the half came to an end. It was the 13-7 Locomotive advantage during the third quarter that proved to be the help they need to succeed. Jaelyn Lyons and Landri McKelvey led Montpelier with 10 points apiece.
GIRLS JUNIOR VARSITY BASKETBALL
Paulding 46, Montpelier 17
The Locomotives fell behind 23-11 at the half and could not climb back in to the contest during second half action. Kimme Engels and Haley Rose scored all of Montpelier’s points. All of Engels’ nine points came at the foul line while Rose added eight points.
GIRLS JUNIOR HIGH BASKETBALL
Fayette 18, Stryker 5
7th grade – Fayette was in control the entire game as they broke out to an 8-0 lead at the end of the first quarter. Leininger from Fayette led all scorers with eight points in the win. Jennifer Deitz scored all five of Strykers points.
Fayette 32, Stryker 12
8th grade – The Eagles won the second half 16-2 as they rolled to the victory. Fayette’s Fruchey led all scorers with 21 points. Kinsey Myers led the Panthers with eight points.
Hilltop 29, North Central 25
7th grade Hilltop’s Lana Baker led with 14 points and Leanna Baker had 13 points. North Central’s top scorer was Madison Brown with 16.
Hilltop 36, North Central 24
8th grade – The Cadets made it a sweep taking their second win of the night. Hilltop got eight points from A. VanArsdalen and from S. Barnum. K. Brenner added seven and A. Maddox had six. North Central was led by Kristen Hickman with 10 and Mazie Zimmerman with six points.
Edon 27, Montpelier 15
7th grade – Chelsea McCord and Ariel Page each scored four points for the Locomotives.
Montpelier 29, Edon 23 (OT)

In an overtime game the Locomotives steamed to victory. Montpelier’s top scorer was Sonja Alvira with 10 points.
BOYS JUNIOR HIGH BASKETBALL
North Central 52, Hilltop 16
7th grade – The Cadets were no match for the flying high Eagles. Tucker Beres led North Central with 21 points while Zach Hayes added 15. Mason Sanford and Sammy Wheeler had seven points apiece and Colton Hicks chipped in with two points.
Hilltop 43, North Central 26
8th grade – Hilltop came back in the second contest to earn a split with the Eagles. Hilltop’s scorers are not none, but the Eagles were led by Roman Sutton with 11, Ben Turner with nine, Adam Bentley with 4 and Travis Schmunk with two.
Pettisville 33, Hilltop 29
7th grade – After being outscored 6-0 in the first quarter, The Blackbirds rebounded with 11 second quarter points to end the half down one 12-11. The win moved Pettisville to 2-3 on the season. Zakkai Kaufmann led Pettisville with 11 points and Gideon Myers finished with seven points. Hoffman led Hilltop with 18 points.

Pettisville 38, Hilltop 25
8th grade – After low production in the first half, the teams got rolling in the second half. Pettisville (4-1) put 27 points on the board during the third and fourth quarters and Hilltop lit up the scoreboard for 21 second half points. Josh Horning was Pettisville’s leading scorer with 11 points while Isaac St. John added six points. Schlosser led Hilltop with seven points.
Edon 58, Montpelier 16
7th grade – Scott Hillard had six points and Colin Mattern finished with five points for Montpelier.
Montpelier 39, Edon 26
8th grade – Thomas Jay and Tylor Yahraus led the Locomotives charge with 14 and 12 points respectively.
