Perrysburg – The Bowling Green Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal traffic crash that occurred on Interstate 75 near Dowling Road in Middleton Township. The crash occurred on January 24, 2024 at approximately 6:10 P.M.
58-year-old Pedro Maldonado of Shelby Township, Michigan, was operating a 2020 International box truck northbound on Interstate 75 near milepost 188. Mr. Maldonado traveled off the right side of the roadway and through the right-of-way fence.
Mr. Maldonado continued across a field and into the backyard of 11511 Dowling Road where he struck a drain grate and a metal barrel.
Mr. Maldonado was transported by Perrysburg Township EMS to Mercy Health – Perrysburg Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by Perrysburg Township Police Department, Perrysburg Township Fire and EMS, and Bubba’s Towing.
