Stephen Chase (1952-2023)

Stephen Chase, age 70, passed away Monday morning, March 27, 2023 at his home in Delta.

He was born in Wauseon on April 10, 1952 to the late, Arthur C. Chase Sr. and Rose Marie (Lambert) Chase.

He graduated from Liberty Center High School in 1970 and in 1973 entered the U.S Air Force; where he served during the Vietnam War until being honorably discharged in 1977.

In 1975 he married Emmy Canido and together had two children, Aurora and Stephanie.


Stephen’s first working career began as a cable technician.  Later he served 15 years in shipping and receiving with Structural Foam Plastics, before being a forklift operator for five years with Clover Leaf Cold Storage.

Stephen was an avid OSU Fan and member of the Delta Eagles, Wauseon American Legion #265 and the Wauseon VFW #7424.

Stephen is survived by his two daughters, Aurora Chase of Miami, FL and Stephanie Airman of Denver, CO; sisters, Ellen Kay Whitman and Carla Jean Teel; brother, Peter (Connie) Chase; grandson, Blake Airman; stepmom, Jean Chase; stepsister, Paulette Carpenter; stepbrother, Tim Duff and sister-in-law, Jodi Chase.


Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Harvey Chase and Arthur “Weed” Chase Jr; sisters, Susan Chase, Julie Chase and Deborah Baer and stepbrother, Craig Duff.

Friends will be received from 5:00 PM -8:00 PM on Thursday, March 30, 2023 at Barnes Funeral Chapel and Crematory, 5825 St. Hwy. 109 in Delta; with an Eagles Service being held at 7:30 PM.  Funeral services for Stephen will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, March 31, 2023 also at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery in Napoleon at 12:00 Noon on Friday. Pastor Maryann Reimund will be officiating.

In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider a memorial contribution to the Delta Fraternal Order of Eagles, 304 Main St., Delta, Ohio 43515 in Stephen’s memory.
