Steven Santiago (1961-2018)

Steven Vincent Santiago, 56 years, of Bryan, and formerly of Hollis, New York, passed away Friday, October 12, 2018 at Community Health Professionals Hospice Inpatient Center, Defiance.  Steven was born October 30, 1961 in Brooklyn, New York, the son of the late Aurelio and Marjorie (Merritt) Santiago.

He was a 1979 graduate of St. Martin De Torres High School in Queens, New York.  Steven met his life companion, Jesus “Manny” Velez and spent the past 39 years living life with him.

Steven was an Office Manager for the Law Firm of Bamundo, Zwal and Schermerhorn, LLP for the past 20 years.  He was a member of Grace Community Church, Bryan.  Steven loved to laugh, listen to gospel music, play a good game of poker, eating great food, swimming and riding roller coasters.  He loved life and spending time with those close to him.

Surviving is his companion, Jesus “Manny” Velez of Bryan; one sister, Teresa Santiago of Toledo; one brother, Ricardo “Jimmy” Santiago also of Toledo; four nephews and two nieces; his cat, Sanvel.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial services for Steven Vincent Santiago will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, October 19, 2018 in Grace Community Church, 206 Bement Street, Bryan with Pastor Nate Petrosky officiating.  Relatives and friends will be received one hour prior to the service at the church.  Arrangements are under the care of Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorial contributions be made to the family.
