Stryker Local School District held their Board of Education meeting on Monday, February 12th. The meeting began at 5:30 p.m. with roll call and the Pledge of Allegiance.

In the first order of business, the board approved the agenda for the February 12th meeting as well as the January 8th organizational and regular meeting minutes.

The board then approved the financial report for January 2024. Several donations were given to the school which included: Stryker Rotary Club donated $50.00 for Jet’s expenses, Darren Pash donated $800.00 for Stryker Athletic schedules, and Stryker Athletic Boosters donated $2,000.00 to the Boys Basketball fund.

Next came the principal reports, both principals gave some upcoming important dates on the calendar. The high school principal talked about the ACT test coming up for juniors which will be taken online this year.

This will be the first year the test is being taken online at Stryker and after this year the test will no longer be mandatory for students to take. Starting next year, the school will give the test to juniors who want to take it, but it will be completely optional.

The superintendent then recommended the board accept the resignation of Olivia Bowers, Transportation Driver and approve Chad Corroll as Transportation Driver and Custodial Sub as well as Baily Short for Supplemental as HS Track Assistant Coach, which the board approved.

Then, the board approved the Membership into OHSAA for the 2024-2025 school year and the overnight/extended trip for the Spanish/Art Club to Panama City, Panama.

With nothing else left to discuss, the board motioned to adjourn at 5:46 p.m. The next meeting will be March 18th at 5:30 p.m.
