August 26th-WAYNE TRACE: The junior high boys of Stryker finished second out of sixteen teams at the Wayne Trace Invitational, while North Central was amongst the top half of teams in seventh place.
98 runners participated in the boys heat. Stryker had five of its number place in the first half to finish the race, including two in the top twenty. The Eagles had three accomplish that same feat, with one runner finishing in the top twenty-five.
For the Panthers, Izayah Ferguson took nineteenth place overall, recording a time of 13:27. Less than a second behind him, teammate Logan Boetz was also clocked at 13:27, good for twentieth place. Emanuel Villanueva came in twenty-ninth place, putting up a 14:03 while Tristin Sampson finished four seconds later at 14:07 claiming thirty-first place. Thirty-second place belonged to Reece Hall and his time of 14:08.
The Eagles were led by twenty-fifth place finisher Justin Vassar, who completed the race at 13:56. Josh Wherle, also representing North Central, ran a 14:17, putting him in thirty-fifth place. Blake Sakos completed the trio of Eagles to finish in the top end, taking forty-third place with his time of 14:37.
Both teams also had their girls’ teams competing in the Invitational. The girls’ heat was comprised of fifty-two runners.
The Panthers had just two girls run in the even, as Abigail Grice took ninth place overall with a time of 15:36. Emily Banks claimed forty-fifth place for Stryker thanks to her time of 21:51.
North Central also placed two representatives into the girls’ heat. Madelyn Scott placed twenty-second, running an 18:11. Stephanie Loney finished the race at 20:14, giving her a thirty-ninth place finish.
