AYERSVILLE: April 26 – The Montpelier Lady Locomotives joined up with the BBC rival Stryker Lady Panthers and the Pettisville Lady Blackbirds in taking on the competition at the 2014 Bob Diller Invitational in Ayersville on April 26.

Despite the toughness of the competition, all three teams made strong statements at the event. The Lady Panthers finished with 34 points and the eighth team position. Pettisville and Montpelier did not commit to full team strength for the event, but still showed well in the events in which they participated. Pettisville finished 11th with 26 points, while Montpelier placed 15th with 7 points.

An example of the toughness of the competition was found in the 100 meter dash. Paige Speelman of Stryker qualified in the primaries and the semifinals. In the finals, she finished fourth, a mere 0.60 seconds behind Tori Abdul of Tinora who broke the meet record with a time of 12.30 seconds. The competition level was so high in this event, that a fraction of one second spelled the difference between a record-setting first place finish and fourth place…four runners across in less than a tick of the clock.
