The “Laying On Of Hands”

The First Baptist Church in Stryker rejoiced Sunday, July 28th to be part of the ordination ceremony of Timothy Martin who has been serving as Pastor of Family Discipleship since 2019.

His faith-story, his call, and theology was rigorously examined a few days prior by a council of twelve area pastors. Upon their approval it was recommended to the church to proceed with his ordination to the Gospel ministry.

The charge to the candidate was given by his father, Rev. Nic Martin, and the charge to the congregation by the lead pastor Sean Ingram. The hymns for the service were all chosen by Tim to express his testimony.

The music was by the Praise Team vocalists Kathee Ingram and Tara Matthews, and instrumentalists Lucas Ingram, Barb Love, and Michael Matthews.

Martin is a graduate of Cornerstone University where he met his wife, the former Mindy Grant, a social worker. They have two sons.

Tim has done additional study to obtain certification in Biblical Counseling. He is the chaplain for the Stryker Police Department, is on the board of the Defiance Area Youth for Christ and is active with the after-school Bible study program in Stryker.

Before entering the ministry, Tim was known in the area from his eighteen years as district manager with Current Office Solutions. His expertise then was timely and valuable when COVID caused the church services to go to ZOOM and then live-streaming.
