Swanton Board Of Education Informed Of COVID Vaccine Clinic For Students

During the School Board meeting held on Wednesday, April 21,2021, the Swanton Board of Education accepted the following donations: $924.50 from Kroger to General Fund;

$304 from Swanton Parents Club to Swanton Elementary Principal’s Fund; $921.80 from Swanton Parents Club to Swanton Elementary Principal’s Fund (018/9185)
$138.95 from Kroger to Prom; $24 from various donors to Athletic Fund; and $5,075 from various donors to SHS Musical.

In regular business, they approved the minutes of the previous meeting, the agenda for the present meeting, Appropriation modifications and estimated resource changes, and the Reports of the Treasurer. There was a financial and levy update with some discussion.

Superintendent Chris Lake congratulated Jason Hill “for his efforts in organizing a successful sixth grade camp and Christine Curtis for putting on prom. We have worked very hard this year to make things as normal as possible for our students and these two events have been on our radar all year as things that absolutely must happen.”


“I want to thank them for all of their efforts that went into planning and carrying out these two traditional rites of passage for Swanton students.”

Mr. Lake also announced a COVID Vaccine Clinic to take place for students and community members on Friday, April 23rd. Action recommended by Lake and approved by the Board included:

-a change to the last day of school, which is Friday, May 28, 2021 from a full day to a two hour early release


-To approve the one year contract with Healthcare Process Consulting, Inc. at a cost of $6,000 for the 2021/2022 school year, the 2022/2023 school year, and the 2023/2024 school year.

-To approve the Farm Land Rent Contract with Doug Keil for 12.88 acres for the 2021 and 2022 crop years at $205 per acre. (located to the north of SHS)

-Approve the Chicago trip for the Swanton High School Band as presented for the dates of February 25-27, 2022.

-Approve the Cedar Point overnight Team Camp trip for the Swanton High School Volleyball as presented for the dates of July 14-15, 2021.


-approve the job description for Curriculum Director as presented.

-Contract Termination of Lisa Mattin custodial effective April 15, 2021

-Certified Resignation of Taryn Casteel 7th grade Science/Math effective August 10, 2021 and Laura Gerken 5th grade math effective July 31,2021

-Classified resignation of Stella Foote effective May 28, 2021

-Rescind Classified Supplemental 20-21 school year for Caleb Yates Assistant Wrestling 11% effective January 20, 2021

-Certified Two-Year Contract 20-21 school year Laura Gerken Curriculum Director

-Classified Supplemental 20-21 Lucas Braatz Co. HS Girls Assistant Track 4.5% and DeNatra Smith same, both effective March 22, 2021; Mark Kahl Head Boys Soccer

-NwOESC Substitute teachers for 20-21 Daniel Garrison, Brooke Hines and Lauren O’Riordon

-Classified Sub 20-21 Alaina Garcia custodial, effective April 12, 2021

-Unpaid medical leave Charlene Blankenship through May 28, 2021

-Recreation Contracts 20-21 Lori Bolyard Baseball/Softball field maintenance

-Recreation Volunteers

-Non-renewal lists for 20-21 School year

Reports were given for Buildings: High school, Middle School, Elementary School, Food Service, Transportation, and Student Services
