Swanton High School brought a touch of classic Broadway charm to the stage with its spring musical production of “Cinderella,” performed March 20 and March 21 at 7 p.m., along with a matinee on March 22 at 2 p.m. in the high school auditorium.
The well-known story follows a kindhearted young woman forced into servitude by her stepmother and stepsisters — a life that changes after a magical encounter with her Fairy Godmother.
With the help of magic, Cinderella attends the royal ball where she captures the attention of the prince, beginning a timeless tale of hope, perseverance, and transformation.
The production delivered a polished and engaging performance that highlighted the hard work and dedication of everyone involved.
The cast brought strong acting and vocal performances to the stage, conveying both the emotion and humor of the story. Musical numbers were performed with confidence and clarity, adding to the overall impact of the show.
Equally impressive was the work done behind the scenes. The set design and prop work helped create an immersive environment that transported the audience into the fairy tale setting.
One standout was the carriage, a memorable visual element that drew appreciative reactions from the audience. Costuming also played a key role, with detailed, well-designed outfits that enhanced each character and scene.
