Swanton High School senior Luke Marlow was the center of attention Friday afternoon when he signed a commitment to attend and play Division II baseball for Hocking College.
Among his many accolades at SHS, Marlow was named to the NWOAL All-League first team in May 2025, named the Northwest Ohio District 1 2025 Player of the Year, and was part of last year’s 19-win season by the Bulldogs, a school record for wins in a season.
Marlow said Hocking was the first school he visited and that he felt a mutual connection with the coaches.
“I really felt at home. It felt a lot like here, which is something I wanted when I went off to college,” he said. “They’re getting a brand new facility right now, a brand new field, so I’m really excited for that.”
Marlow said his goal is to use the junior college as a stepping-stone to a Division I school.
“So, the plan is to play one to two years there and then see where it takes me,” he said. “Obviously the goal there is to win a national championship, win a conference championship and I’m just really focused on playing there right now.”
His long-term plan is to earn a degree in criminal justice with the goal of one day working for the FBI.
