Thomas W. Watts

Thomas “Tom” W. Watts, age 87, of Montpelier passed away on Friday morning at his home. He was born on March 22, 1928 in Defiance, Ohio to Thomas L. and Emma M. (Zackrich) Watts. Tom graduated from Montpelier High School in 1946 where he was a member of the football and basketball teams. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy. On November 12, 1950 he married Alice A. Anders at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Montpelier and she survives.

Tom worked for Winzeler’s Stamping Company in Montpelier where he started as a tool and die maker eventually working his way up to plant manager by the time he retired in 1990. He was a long time member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church and also a member of the Montpelier Moose. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and golfer.

Tom is survived by his loving wife, Alice A. Watts of Montpelier; three sons, Rob (Dan Konkus) Watts of Columbus, Ohio, Mark Watts and Trent (Carol) Watts both of Montpelier; daughter, Tami (Lee) Richmond of Montpelier; three grandchildren, Ryan (Joy) Richmond of Montpelier, Kayla (Jeff) Flaig of Cincinnati and Brooke (Connor) Watts of Montpelier; six great grandchildren, Brynn, Bryce and Brea Richmond and Casey, Mitchell and Andi Flaig; one sister, Dawn (Howard) Moore of Quincy, Michigan; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Tom is preceded in death by his parents and three sisters and their husbands, Margaret (Ray) Biddle, Norma (Bill) Squire and Ginny (Tom) Brown.
