At their December 31 meeting, embers of the Bryan Board of Public Affairs elected Tom Sprow to take the gavel as the Board Chair for 2021, taking over for Dick Long whose term is coming to a close.

Jim Salsbury will continue to serve as the Vice-Chair after Annette Schreiner declined the nomination for the position, citing her lack of experience.

“I know from experience,” Salsbury recalled, “…the years that I served as Board Chair that we’ve had some very interesting years in the past, but I don’t think anything that holds a candle to what we’ve had this year.”

“I just want to say, Dick, you really did a heck of a job. You really did. I know there was a lot of responsibilities and you spent a lot of extra time, and I for one appreciate everything you did.”

“I don’t think things are going to change overnight, but hopefully the next year, 2021, will be a better year for Mr. Sprow to serve.”

In other actions undertaken by the Board during their final meeting of 2020, BMU Director of Utilities Nathan Gardner was appointed to serve as the representative of the city on the Board of Trustees of American Municipal Power.

Mr. Long was appointed as the alternate to Mayor Carrie Schlade to serve on the Ohio Municipal Electric Association Board.
