PETTISVILLE (March 24, 2026) – Six Swanton hitters recorded multiple-hit games as the Bulldogs (3-0) rolled to a 16-4, five-inning win over Pettisville.
“We adjusted well after the first two innings,” Bulldog coach Lauren Yoder said. “We didn’t hit the ball great, not up to our standards, but we adjusted our at-bats well and were able to score a bunch of runs. I think our small ball game was very good.”
Swanton scored in every inning, starting in the top of the first. Lacey Shinaver walked, stole second, and scored when Alexis Faber looped a single into center to put Swanton on top.
Pettisville came right back in the bottom of the inning. Ali Genter drilled a leadoff double and came across the plate on Macy Hoylman’s line-drive single to knot the game.
Swanton took the lead for good in the second. With two down, Kinley Curtis reached on an infield hit. Curtis stole second, then third, and continued home when the throw to third was muffed to give Swanton a 2-1 lead.
The lead grew quickly in the third.
Carli Lagrange opened with a solid single and scored when Cara Ludlow doubled to deep left-center. After a walk, Adriana Elliott rifled a double to score two more to make it 5-1. Curtis’ bunt marked another Bulldog run before the Blackbirds could get out of the inning.
Swanton put the game away in the fourth. Swanton loaded the bases with no one out, and Ludlow delivered the first big hit of the inning, a two-run single to center.
Elliott knocked home two more with a base hit to left in the middle of a seven-run explosion that opened a 13-1 lead.
Pettisville got a pair back when Bailey Booth and Grace Hastings singled, and the Bulldogs had a major defensive lapse, committing three errors that allowed two unearned runs in the bottom of the fourth.
Ludlow’s second double, another from Payton Glonek, and a third two-base hit by Elliott accounted for three more Swanton runs in the fifth.
A walk, two wild pitches, and a passed ball brought home the final Blackbird tally in the fifth. Shinaver, Lagrange, Ludlow, and Elliott each had three hits for Swanton. Faber and Curtis each added two more.
“All the way up and down (the batting order),” Yoder said about her team’s balanced attack. “Any good day, our lineup is solid.
“We are missing a key part in that lineup right now in Kendall Glonek. She was our number four hitter, so we are working to adjust, and I think they are doing a nice job.”
Beyla Remer picked up the win in the circle, backed by the offensive explosion. Hoylman had a two-hit game for the Blackbirds but took the loss in the circle.
