SWANTON (April 26, 2025) – It was a big day for the Edgerton Bulldogs as they picked up two wins on Saturday during a doubleheader against Swanton by the scores of 22-11 and 10-6. With their solid hitting and timely pitching, Edgerton was able to stay ahead in both games.
During the first game, Edgerton’s offense started strong and maintained that strength throughout the game, collecting 26 hits.
Ava Swank, Olivia Wallace, and Ava Giesige each hit home runs, while Corinne Cape added a triple and four RBIs.
They steadily built their lead over Swanton inning by inning and managed to keep enough pressure on Swanton’s defense so as to stay in the lead. Nearly every batter who stepped up to the plate contributed to the team’s steady attack.
Swanton kept pace offensively early in the game, led by Alexa Faber’s two home runs and five RBIs. Gabbie Orner also hit a home run of her own, while Lacey Shinaver and Kendall Baumbarger chipped in as well with multiple hits. Swanton finished out the game with 16 hits but couldn’t match Edgerton’s consistency.
On the mound, Edgerton’s Corinne Cape and Olivia Wallace combined for six strikeouts and worked together to hold off Swanton in the later innings.
Swanton’s pitchers, Beyla Remer and Alexa Faber, battled against Edgerton’s lineup but struggled to limit their extra-base hits. By the end of seven innings, Edgerton stretched their lead and finished with a 22-11 win.
During the second game, Edgerton’s offense continued to persevere, and their defense tightened up as they worked toward yet another win.
Swank remained determined at the plate, adding yet another home run and a double to her big day. Wallace picked up two more hits and two RBIs, while Corinne Cape reached base twice, scoring two runs to help keep Edgerton in control.
Swanton once again showed great effort at the plate, with Faber hitting her third home run of the day and making three runs.
Shinaver stayed consistent with two hits and two runs scored, while Carli LaGrange and Baumbarger each added some timely hits in order to keep Edgerton within reach for much of the game.
Josalyn Kahl started the game for Swanton. Faber came in for two innings of relief and held Edgerton to just one hit in her outing. Edgerton’s Wallace and Cape pitched well enough to keep Swanton from making a serious comeback, and Edgerton eventually closed out with a 10-6 win over Swanton.
