LIBERTY CENTER (April 18, 2026) – It was a closely contested battle between Liberty Center and Evergreen in deciding the outcome in the boys’ division of the Liberty Center Invitational track meet held Saturday, April 18, at the Carpenter Track Complex Facility.

When the smoke had finally cleared on an overcast and rainy afternoon, it was Liberty Center that came away winning its own invitational title, outlasting runner-up Evergreen, 127.83-107.3. Maumee was third with 69.5 points, followed by Delta 45.3, Northwood 27 and Sylvania Northview 23.

Liberty Center and Evergreen combined to capture 11 individual and three relay event titles between them, but it was the individual scoring depth by the Tigers, especially in the distance events, claiming the top two places in both the 1600 and 3200 meter runs, along with their own traditional dominance in the discus and shot put.

Hunter Spangler (shot put, discus) and Mason Like (1600, 3200) both claimed a pair of individual titles for Liberty Center, but it was Evergreen’s trio of wins in the 100, 200 and 400 meter dashes, along with a pair of first-place finishes by Will Ruetz (110 hurdles, long jump), that enabled the Vikings to keep pace with the Tigers.

Breyden Hoffman swept the 100 (11.51) and 200 (23.46) dashes to lead Evergreen. Ben Hoffman claimed the 400 (54.53). Ruetz won the 110 hurdles (15.96) and long jump (20-6) while finishing second in the 300 hurdles (42.69). Luke Woodring was second in the 100 (11.81) and third in the 200 (24.96). Blake Fisher was third in the 1600 (4:59.72).

The Vikings captured hardware, winning the 400 and 800 relay events. The 400 relay of Ruetz, Breyden Hoffman, Quinten Eisel and Woodring won in 44.59, and the 800 relay of Ben Hoffman, Breyden Hoffman, Eisel and Woodring was clocked at 1:34.24. Evergreen also finished second in the 1600 relay (3:57.93).

Delta captured the 1600 relay as the quartet of Carson Sintobin, Liam Easton, Jensyn Gillen and Peyton Winkler were clocked in 3:55.69. The Panthers were third in the 3200 relay (10:05.62).

Winkler was second (55.7) and Gillen was third (56.41) in the 400. Solomon Munger was second in the high jump (5-6) and Brady Smith was third in the shot put (47-¼).

In the girls meet, Maumee grabbed top team honors with 92 points, followed by Liberty Center (89), Delta (84), Sylvania Northview (60), Evergreen (54) and Northwood (23).

Abby Savage and Claire Bates each won two events for the Panthers. Savage captured the 200 (28.17) and 400 (1:02.66). Bates swept both the shot put (34-1) and discus (105-10) titles.

Other top individual finishers for Delta were Lily Hunt, who was second in the 100 (18.16) and 300 (53.41) hurdles. Josie Maurer was third in the 100 (13.98) and Adrianna Dunning was third in the 400 (1:04.69). The Panthers finished second in the 800 (1:52.98) and 1600 relays (4:37.73) and finished third in the 400 (55.65) relay.

Evergreen claimed one individual title with Bella Henricks winning the 100 hurdles with a time of 17.56.

Hallie Bryan placed in three different events for Evergreen. Bryan was second in the 100 (13.58) and long jump (14-7½). Callie Wyse was second in the pole vault (8-6) and Alivia Mitchey was third in the high jump (4-6). The Vikings were third in the 3200 relay (12:06.60).
