The Wauseon Super Cruise brought vehicles, vendors and visitors downtown on Tuesday, June 16, as the monthly event took place from 6 to 8 p.m.
The event featured a variety of vehicles lined along the downtown area, with everything from classic cars and low riders to rat rods and other specialty vehicles on display.
Angel Matthews said one of the vehicles that stood out during the evening was an Oakshade race car, along with several low riders and rat rods that had drawn attention from those walking through the cruise.
This year’s cruise season has also come with a change behind the scenes, as the Cruise Night organization has merged with the Wauseon Downtown Association.
Matthews explained that the merger was not one group taking over the other, but rather both groups joining together equally.
While the groups are still sorting through some of the details, Matthews said this year’s events had already been planned, meaning the current cruise season will continue mostly as scheduled.
She said there may be some changes next year, but nothing major is expected.
The group is also continuing its Saturday morning events at Ace Hardware, with the Wauseon Farmers Market also being held there this year.
Matthews said having the car show and farmers market together gives people another reason to come out and enjoy the morning.
Downtown Super Cruises are also continuing to include more than just vehicles.
Tuesday night’s event included 50/50 drawings and door prizes, which Matthews said have been a regular part of the cruises.
Several vendors and local organizations were also part of the evening, including Aqua Ice, a lemonade stand, popcorn, and other local groups offering food and refreshments.
The Table also had specials during the evening and hosted an art show with Triangular Processing.
Matthews said the organization is continuing to look for ways to work with other groups and become a bigger part of the community.
The Super Cruises remain the larger monthly events during the season, with the regular cruise nights and Saturday morning events continuing to give local vehicle owners and spectators a place to gather.
Looking ahead, Matthews said the August Super Cruise is expected to include the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office for a Click It or Ticket effort, along with another group that is also expected to attend.
The Wauseon Cruise Night season will continue through the summer, giving residents and visitors more chances to enjoy vehicles, food, music, local businesses and community involvement in downtown Wauseon.
