The Wauseon City Council held their meeting on Monday, June 20th. The meeting began at 5:00 p.m. with the Pledge of Allegiance and a moment of silence.  The prior meetings minutes from June 6th were then approved before council heard from Keith Torbet.

Torbet, who is the Director of Public Services, spoke about the street work currently being done on Brunell Street.

Mr. Torbet stated that the project is currently ahead of schedule and that the water lines are being run now with the sanitary sewer lines coming up after that.

It was also stated that bricks were taken out from underneath where the road was.

Mr. Torbet also informed council that the nursing home should not be affected with water loss. Some residents in the area may be affected but everyone will be notified beforehand.

Mayor Huner then informed council that the police department has been putting updates for work done on Brunell Street on their Facebook page. The conversation then shifted to the city pool.

It was stated by Mr. Torbet that the pool has been extremely busy so far this season and that, if the weather holds, it could be a record-breaking season.

Some issues with the pool have appeared, including issues with the chlorinator, but these issues have been worked on.

Council member Steve Schneider then asked about increased parking at the pool. Mr. Torbet explained that, at this time, everyone is currently busy with projects.

This includes both the city and contractors. It was also stated by Mr. Torbet that items for other projects are currently on backorder and will not be in for at least a year.

Brandon Tijerina then stated that the Homecoming is looking for individuals to help with the Bingo table. Mr. Tijerina stated that he thought it would be good if council members were able to help out with that.

Some members, including the mayor, stated they may possibly be interested in helping. Mayor Huner also reminded everyone that the parade will be coming up soon on July 30th at 11:00 a.m.

Council then moved to approve and pay the bills as presented before moving to adjourn at 5:10 p.m.
