Wauseon High School Celebrates Homecoming 2023

Wauseon High School Students celebrated their annual Homecoming Ceremony this year on Friday, September 22nd.

The celebration took place on the football field at 6:30 p.m. with each member of the Homecoming Court being driven out by the field in a vehicle. This year’s Homecoming Court is as follows.

This year’s Freshman Representatives were Sidney O’Dell and Weston Smith. Sidney is the daughter of Ryan and Jenna O’Dell.

She participates in 4-H, track and field. St. Casper’s Youth Group and is joining the Spanish Club this year.

Her hobbies include playing piano, watching Ohio Bobcat Football with her Dad, enjoying art, and taking poultry projects to the fair for 4-H. Her future plans include attending Ohio University to become an optometrist.

Weston is the son of Sam and Rachel Smith. His activities include football and track, and his hobbies include participating in sports, fishing, hunting with his dad, and hanging out with his family. His future plans include attending college for Engineering.

This year’s Sophomore Representatives were Jadyn Demaline and Collin Mennetti. Jadyn is the daughter of Shawna and Dana Demaline.

Her activities include volleyball and track, with her hobbies including hanging out with friends and family. Her future plans involve attending a four-year university to pursue a career in Interior Design.

Collin is the son of Matt and Janna Mennetti. His activities include soccer, basketball, and hanging out with friends and family.

Hobbies include playing basketball in the driveway, playing catch with the football in the backyard, watching Netflix, and playing with his dog. His future plans involve going to college, preferably The Ohio State University.

This year’s Junior Representatives were Johanna Tester and Ashton Vonier. Johanna is the daughter of Mike and Patricia Tester. Her activities include volleyball, basketball, and track.

Hobbies include sports, mainly volleyball, as it is “a great way to meet new friends and keep myself occupied.” Future plans include continuing her education at a four-year college.

Ashton is the son of Jenny and Scott Vonier. His activities include football, and his hobbies include the gym, video games, and hunting.

His future plans include joining the military, specifically the Navy where he would like to attend the Naval Academy.

Senior Representatives for this year were Joanne Hite and Carson Smith. Joanne Hite is the daughter of Laurie and Bruce Hite. Her activities include Band, Speech Team, Theater, Student Council, and the National Honor Society.

Her hobbies include watching and reviewing movies, playing card games with friends and family, and hanging out with friends. Her future plans include going to college to major in Broadcast Journalism.

Carson Smith is the son of Becky and Rod Smith. His activities include band, theater, Spanish Club, Spanish, Honor Society, and National Honor Society.

His hobbies include playing the trumpet and editing videos to post on YouTube. His future plans include going to college for Film/Video Production Broadcasting.

This year’s King and Queen are Kasalyn Powers and Tyson Rodriguez. Kasalyn is the daughter of Jamie and Luke Powers.

Her activities include playing volleyball during her freshman and sophomore year as well as being involved in the National Honor Society and Girls Christian Fellowship. Her future plans include attending college and majoring in Early Childhood Education.

Tyson is the son of Joe and Laura Rodriguez. His activities include basketball, football, and baseball. Hobbies include lifting weights, playing video games, fishing, and hanging out with friends and his girlfriend Kasalyn. His future plans include attending a four-year college to further his education.

Following the introduction of this year’s Homecoming Court, the King and Queen were crowned. Each of the members of the court were then able to pose for pictures before the home football game against Patrick Henry began.
