(April 16th, 2015) – DELTA: The Indians scored in every inning of play in their route of North Western Ohio Athletic League foe and neighbor Delta. Wauseon made the short trip eastward on 20A to meet the Panthers on their home field.
The Indian boys would be glad they made the journey, as they topped Delta 12-2.
Wauseon got things going early in the contest, racking up 5 runs in the top of the first inning. Delta was unable to mount a response. The Indians added 3 more runs to their total in the second, with the Panthers again having no answer for the barrage of runs scored by their guests from Wauseon. Over the course of the third and fourth innings, the visiting Indians put a run on the board for each frame.
It wasn’t until the bottom of the fourth that Delta struck back. It would prove to be too little too late, as their 1 run effort in the that inning was trumped by a 2 run outing by Wauseon in the top of the fifth. Another run scored in the bottom of the fifth was not enough to force a sixth inning, giving the Inidians a 10 run victory.
Brady Rupp gave the Indians a consistent bat against the Panthers pitching, as he went 2 for 3 on the evening. He also drove in an RBI. Wauseon senior Nate Suntken made contact on 1 of his 3 plate appearances, driving in 2 RBIs on a double. He stole a base as well. Teammate Jac Flory brought home 2 RBIs off of a single, going 1 for 3 from the plate.
It was Peyten Shadbolt on the mound for Wauseon, earning the complete game in a five inning effort. The senior pitcher allowed just 1 earned run off of 3 hits. He struck out 8 Panther batters as well.
