WAUSEON – Teagan Rupp will be continuing her track & field career at Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, Indiana where she will specialize in the long jump and pole vault.
Rupp also considered Spring Arbor University (where her sister attends), Huntington University, and Ohio Northern University.
“I loved their campus and the people. Everyone was so nice, and their campus was beautiful. It is a very athletic campus and their track program seemed pretty good”, said Rupp.
“The coach and team were supportive and welcoming and I also liked the Christian atmosphere where God is the center of everything they do.”
“During the recruiting process, I requested to talk to the track coach when visiting colleges but Indiana Wesleyan was one of them that reached out to me before my visit and I told them how I actually had a visit scheduled for later that week”, began Rupp.
“After my visit, Coach Snyder, the head coach, kept in touch with me throughout my soccer season and answered any questions I had along with giving me an offer.”
“He had me spend a weekend on campus with another girl on the track team to see if I enjoyed the atmosphere and other girls on the team. After figuring out a bit more on the financial side, I decided that I wanted to go to IWU.”
Entering her senior season, Rupp holds school records at Wauseon in the long jump (17-2.5) and in the pole vault (11-4).
Rupp also enjoyed a successful soccer career where she received first-team all-league this year along with second-team all-district after receiving second-team all-league and honorable mention all-district last season
Along with her athletic success, Rupp has maintained a 4.0 GPA throughout high school and will graduate with 30 college credits. She is currently undecided on a major but is thinking she will end up in biochemistry or something similar.
