West Unity’s Marilyn Royal addressed the members of the West Unity Village Council during the time their May 11, 2023 Council meeting would have been held had they had enough members present.

Mrs. Royal told the Council of all of the costs associated with the upkeep of some of these exceedingly old gravestones.

Home to many veterans, Rings Cemetery is also the final resting place for many who had served in the War of 1812.

Mrs. Royal is committed to ensuring that the cemetery stays sightly and is looking for volunteers to help clean gravestones with a mixture of water, dish soap, and vinegar with a soft scrub brush.

Rings Cemetery is also in need of donations to help maintain the gravestones. Volunteer inquiries and donations can be sent to Chris Maneval, who is secretary of the Brady Township Board of Trustees, at (419) 553-9622.
