The Williams County Board of Commissioners approved several resolutions Tuesday, May 5, including multiple funding applications for the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program.
President Scott Lirot and Bart Westfall attended. Terry Rummel was at a Northwest Ohio Juvenile Detention meeting on behalf of the commissioners.
The commissioners authorized applications for two CDBG programs through the Ohio Department of Development, formally approving them for submission.
The first authorizes an application to the CDBG PY 2026 FLEX Downtown Grant program for up to $250,000 toward the revitalization of the Inspiring Hope Counseling building at 119 Beech St. in Bryan.
The second authorizes an application to the CDBG PY 2026 Residential Public Infrastructure Grant (RPIG) program for up to $750,000 toward a pump station replacement project on South Liberty Street in West Unity.
An IV-E contract was also approved at the Tuesday meeting. The agreement is between the Williams County Department of Job and Family Services and New Beginnings Residential Treatment Center LLC.
The contract is for the division of child placement services and has a maximum payable amount of $40,000. The term runs April 23 to June 30, 2026.
The commissioners also continued to discuss a small parcel of land in West Unity. Earlier discussions centered on gifting the property to adjacent landowners, but no final decisions were made.
The board noted that it had been approached by a local park controlled by Rails to Trails, which also was interested in the property. “We’re looking at that a little further,” Westfall said. “We won’t sign anything until they have more time to look at [it].”
With no further business, the meeting adjourned at 9:15 a.m.
