Winter Sports Roundup For December 13th, 2021

BOYS BOWLING

Swanton 2,198 Evergreen 2,056

SWANTON – Seth Sweet put together games of 185 and 205 as Swanton edged Evergreen 2,198-2,056. Marty Mosher was next for the Bulldogs with a 364 (203, 161) and Carson Santchi added a 347 (175, 172). Evergreen’s Derek Cobb had the high games of the night with a 210 and 223 for a 433 series.

Liberty Center 2,620 Wauseon 2,059

NAPOLEON – Tim Blanton had a 493 (248, 245) and Jacob Sexton tallied a 481 (247, 234) to lead Liberty to a convincing win over Wauseon. Parker Black led the Indians effort with a 367 (206, 161) and Ryan Marks turned in a 359 (182, 177).

Patrick Henry 2,395 Bryan 2,263

BRYAN – Patrick Henry had three bowlers with scores of 200+ in game two and then used a 552-519 advantage in Baker play to close out the win at Bryan. Dakota Brandeberry was the top bowler for the Golden Bears as he posted games of 197 and 218 for a 415 series.

Delta 2,222 Tinora 2,184

SWANTON – Brody Waugh had games of 215 and 208 for a 423 to lift Delta past Tinora for win number one of the season. Gabe Syverson was next in scoring for Delta with a 375 (187, 188) and Kaden Hawkins added a 349 (172, 177).

GIRLS BOWLING

Patrick Henry 1918 Bryan 1733

BRYAN – Faith Harding had the high games for all bowlers with a 248 and 216 for a 464 series as Bryan fell to Patrick Henry. Patrick Henry was led by a 332 (183, 149) series from Sarah Breece and Rachel Breece had a 324 (128, 196).

Delta 2222 Tinora 2184

SWANTON – Ciarra Flickinger fired 324 (176, 148) to help Delta earn their first win of the season. Flickinger was followed by Lexi Brown’s 273 (115, 158) and Maddy Johnston rolled a 268 (147, 121).

Liberty Center 2036 Wauseon 1893

NAPOLEON – The Tigers led Wauseon 1,637-1,489 after match play as they remained undefeated with the win over Wauseon. Natalie Stevens had the high series for the Indians with a 327 (166, 161) and Alyssa Stricklen posted a 307 (170, 137).

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Wauseon 43 Sylvania Southview 37

SYLVANIA – Wauseon took control after holding Southview scoreless in the third quarter to pull away for 43-37 win over the Cougars. Marisa Seiler had 14 points to lead Wauseon (6-0) and Hayley Meyer added 12.

JV SCORE: Wauseon, 27-25

Swanton 42 Rossford 30

ROSSFORD – Swanton upped their overall record to 5-2 on the season with a 42-30 win at Rossford. No stats were reported.

Fairview 52 North Central 37

SHERWOOD – Fairview (4-3) stretched a 27-23 halftime lead with a 14-7 third quarter on their way to a 52-37 nonconference win. Madison Brown topped North Central (5-5) with 17 points while Carrie Zeedyk had a game-high 19 for the Apaches.

JV SCORE: Fairview, 20-12

Hicksville 49 Stryker 36

STRYKER – After starting the season 5-0, the Panthers dropped their second straight after falling to the Aces. Stryker’s Sage Woolace topped all scorers with 22 points on the night. JV SCORE: Hicksville, 20-11

Montpelier 51 Paulding 45

PAULDING – Montpelier (6-0) battled back from an early deficit by outscoring Paulding (0-6) 45-30 over the final three quarters to pick up the road win. Jada Uribes and Ariel Page paced a balanced Lady Locos attack with 11 points each while Chelsea McCord and Mandy Taylor each had 10.

JV SCORE: Montpelier, 32-30 (2OT)

Eastside (IN) 38 Edon 34

EDON – Deadlocked 29-29 after three quarters, the visitors from Eastside out scored Edon 9-5 in the final stanza to pull out a 38-34 win. Carlie Kiss led Edon (0-8), who was just 5/16 at the foul line, with 16 points.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Hilltop 75 Hamilton (IN) 64

WEST UNITY – Hilltop earned their first victory of the season by knocking off Hamilton (IN) 75-64. No stats were reported.
