Beatrice L. Bernath, 82, of Morenci, MI died early Tuesday morning, May 13, 2014, at Provincial House in Adrian, MI. She was born November 24, 1931, in Fulton County, OH, to the late Paul Vincent and Elsie (Thompson) Borck. She married Gerald E. Bernath on April 15, 1950, and he preceded her in death on May 17, 2001.
Bea, a homemaker, lived her early life in the Swanton, Delta, and Winameg areas before settling in Morenci in 1964. She was an active member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Fayette, where she volunteered countless hours of her time, and belonged to the Altar Rosary Society. Bea and Gerald also belonged to The Aetna Grange in Winameg for several years. She enjoyed doing puzzles, collecting dolls, quilting, tending to flowers, and going shopping.
Surviving Bea are two sons, Ronald and Kenneth Bernath, both of Morenci; a daughter, Barbara Blumenauer of Adrian; two brothers, Paul (Margaret) Borck of Hudson, MI, and Tom (Cheryl) Borck of Cement City, MI; two sisters, Alice Taylor and Mary (Robert) Tanner all of Hudson; and three grandchildren, Jacob, Isaac, and Gabrielle.
In addition to her parents and husband, Bea was preceded in death by four siblings, William Borck, John “Joseph” Borck, Ilena Miller, and Annabelle McCarty.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made in honor of Bea to Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church.
