Jared Stewart, 37, from Pioneer pled not guilty to three counts of sexual battery, each a third-degree felony. His trial is set to begin next month. Stewart was indicted by Williams County grand jury in August 2019.
A formal investigation by the Pioneer Police Department led to the indictment that stated, between Feb 1 and May 31, 2018, Stewart engaged in sexual conduct with a female subject who was not his spouse and at the time of the offense he was a teacher, administrator, coach or other person in authority employed by or serving in the school where the female subject was enrolled.
Stewart has been very involved in the North Central Schools. In 2016, he spoke up at a school board meeting about lack of communication hurting the pride among community residents, staff and students.
He helped organize Eagle Mania events and was the High School track coach. After the 2018 track season Stewart resigned from coaching as a result of the investigation.
The trial is set to start February 24 and is expected to last three days.
