It’s that time of year again when residents can expect to see a bright yellow bag hanging on their doorknob. The Pioneer Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts will be out working hard on Saturday, March 1, distributing bags to area residents. These bags can be filled with food or hygiene products and laundry soap. This is a chance for townspeople to help fill the village’s food pantries and help those families who struggle to keep food on the table, or whose every penny goes for food and do not have money for household and hygiene products.
Just put cans, bags, or boxes of food in the bags, and hang it back on your doorknob. The Scouts will go back out on Saturday, March 8, to collect the filled bags.
Although the Scouts appreciate the generosity of residents, they cannot use dented or rusted cans, or food that is outdated and expired. Packaged foods must be in their sealed, original packaging.
There has been a great need in the community during these past few economically difficult years. Food pantry supplies are quickly depleted. A donation of food can mean the difference between a family having enough to eat or not.
