Hilltop Holds Off Montpelier Locomotives 6-4 On A Day Of NWOAL/BBC Matchups

WEST UNITY: April 29-The BBC/NWOAL non-league showdown on April 29 pitted neighboring Hilltop v Montpelier with the Lady Cadets coming out on top in the game 6-4 to move to 12-5 on the season while remaining at a perfect 7-0 in the BBC.
Bailey Funkhouser earned the win from the mound, throwing for 5 full innings, giving up only 1 earned run and allowing just 6 hits. Hannah Bleikamp also saw action, allowing 1 run off of 1 hit.
At the plate for the Lady cadets in the victory, Allie Schmitt had a huge day, connecting for 2 hits in 4 trips to the plate, scoring 2 runs in the victory. Hannah Bleikamp also went 2 for 4, driving in an RBI while scoring 1 run; Brooke Chapin drove in a run off of 2 hits and Shayla Coffman also hit for 2 trips to base in the victory.
For the lady Locomotives in the loss, Jessy Duchene took the hit from the mound, allowing 6 runs off of 11 hits on the day. Offensively for Montpelier, Sydney Houk went 2 for 4 with an RBI while Regan Steffes went 2 for 3 with 1 run scored.
Montpelier falls to 6-6 on the season and remains at 2-3 in the NWOAL.
