Fifty-three adults recently received their General Educational Development (GED) high school equivalence diplomas and were honored for this accomplishment at the Four County Career Center’s Adult Education GED Graduation ceremony.
Anne Howard, ABLE Coordinator, opened the ceremony with a special welcome. Keynote speaker for the ceremony was Reverend Joseph Graves, Pastor at Trinity United Methodist Church in Defiance. Tim Meister, Superintendent, and Doug Beck, Adult Workforce Education Director, commended the GED recipients for their hard work and dedication. Presenting graduates with certificates was Nona Liechty, President of the Career Center Board of Education.
The GED high school equivalence diploma is commonly accepted by employers, colleges and government agencies in place of the high school diploma. Adult Basic and Literacy Education is a program designed to provide training in reading, math, and language to any person 16 years of age or over who is not currently enrolled in school. ABLE is a state and federal funded program.
