Williams County Commissioners Lew Hilkert, Brian Davis and Terry Rummel shared at the end of their sessions on December 14, 2020, that they have looked into the request made by County Engineer (and head of WC Park System), Todd Roth, at the December 7 meeting, concerning the upgrade of a park. They have sent a letter to Roth stating, “we have discussed your request for a contribution regarding the Opdycke Park Disc Golf Course.

After consideration the Board is happy to advise that we are willing to commit the amount of $2500 for this project. It is our understanding that you will proceed to submit an application to the Bryan Area Foundation requesting project funds in the amount of $12,000.

And further we understand that you have a commitment of an additional donation of $500 from an outside source. Thank you for your interest in moving this project forward.” Rummel stated that this is a great investment into Williams County and Hilkert said that during a drive by at the park he saw some work going on and feels it could really be a nice addition to that park.

In regular business, the Commissioners voted to approve:
•Resolution 363 Supplemental Appropriations on behalf of the Auditor – Airport Budget, Board of Elections, CARES Act – CRF, Commissioners, Common Pleas Court, Communications, Engineer, Hillside, Juvenile Court, Park Board, Prosecutor, Sheriff, Title Department, Soil and Water, and WEDCO
•Resolution 364 Advertixing for Sealed Bids for Project #01-2021 – Bruce Drive Storm Sewer, Bid Opening; January 7, 2020 at 10 a.m.
•Resolution 365 Approving first addendum to Master Agreement to provide services to an aggregated group
•Also Signed: 2021 Public Water System License Notice; Notice of retirement for Nick Lawson of Department of Aging; Credit Card Appropriations for Sheriff’s Office for December 2020; Permit to work within County/Township Road Right of Way for Midwest Energy and Communications.
•Minutes for December 10, 2020 and payment of bills

Two Executive sessions were held during the morning, one with Sheriff Kochert, for Compensation of Personnel, exited with No Action taken, and a second for Compensation of Personnel, also with No Action taken. Commissioner Terry Rummel took a moment to point out concerning the CARES Act money, that the county received transfers from Jefferson Township in the amount of 488,745 and from Brady Township in the amount of $24,000.

“I would like to thank those two townships for stepping up, and that money will be spent wisely through the Williams county EMS. I appreciate those two townships and what they have done for the county, and their voters are getting a portion of it, … so Thank you,” Rummel said, with Davis and Hilkert in agreement.
