The approval of the previous meeting minutes and the Clerk Treasurer’s report began the list of items approved by Bryan City Council at the June 21, 2021 Council meeting. Other items approved included:

-An ordinance providing for the transfer of funds for the City of Bryan for the month ending June 30,2021

-An ordinance providing for annual appropriations for the City of Bryan, for the Fiscal year ending December 31, 2021

-An ordinance authorizing and directing the Mayor to Hire the Firm of Squire Patton Boggs, Columbus, Ohio, as Bond Counsel, for the Refunding and Issuance of Bonds in an amount not to exceed $1,500,000, pertaining to the Bryan Police and Fire Building Debt. (Treasurer Laura Rode explained the details of this and recommended it as a good fiscal decision, a good move to go forward and pay down the debt.)

-A motion to approve Supplemental Fiscal Officer’s Certificate, not to exceed 1.5 million dollars

-An ordinance providing for the Issuance and Sale of Bonds in the Maximum Principal Amount of $1,500,000 for the purpose of paying the costs of refunding bonds previously issued by the City for the purpose of constructing, furnishing and equipping a public safety building for the City Police and Fire Departments, and declaring an emergency.

-A Resolution authorizing the Clerk-Treasurer to advertise for bids for 600,000 refuse bags for the city of Bryan Trash Pick-up

A request for a Liquor Permit from Tacos/Nachos who purchased Myro’s Pizza, has been sent to the council as they are in process of opening. Council voted to approve.

Some pool employees hired as non certified have gotten their certification, an Assistant manger has been hired, and a request to hire two seasonal part timers were all presented for approval, which was given.

A Police Department resignation was reported to council. Matt Franzdorf, who was SRO hired through the school, has decided that he wants to step out of law enforcement after 30 years, and will be working with the Elementary School.

Council also approved a motion to cancel the July 6, 2021 Council meeting as there are not enough items that need to be covered. Council members took a few minutes to welcome the new pool hires and to wish Officer Franzdorf the best.

Good comments were made about Jubilee, with congratulations to the Chamber, and the hopes for a great Day in the Park on June 26.

A desire that the community members please only display appropriate signs and flags, as some very crude ones have been seen lately.

It was recommended to remember that the young people of the community are seeing those and being influenced by them.

Mayor Carrie Schlade thanked the committee that pulled off the parade, the first in three years, and said it was so nice to be out with the community members.

She also thanked the police and fire department for all they did to make it a success. She said that she is grateful for what a good role model that SRO Franzdorf has been to her son and to all the students.

Before adjourning, Council went into an Executive Session to discuss Acquisition of Property.
