Evergreen School Board Hears Of Senatorial Citation From Senator Theresa Gavarone

The Evergreen Local School Board held their meeting on Monday August 16th at 7:00 p.m. The board first moved to approve the minutes from the previous meeting held on July 19th.

The board then discussed correspondence that was received from Senator Theresa Gavarone regarding the Senatorial Citation to Macy Chamberlin for achieving the All-Ohio Honorable Mention Division III in softball.

The board then moved to approve the July Financial reports including the cash reconciliation, financial summary, cash summary, and disbursement summary.

Next, the board accepted fund-to-fund transfers from 001-7410-921 in the amount of $50,000 to the Athletic Department and from 001-7410-921 in the amount of $50,000 to the food service. A $100 donation to the Student Assistance Fund was also accepted.

The following Federal Grants were also approved for the 2021-2022 school year. ESSER II Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief in the amount of $379,814.33 and ESSER III Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief in the amount of $853,614.92.

The board then approved permanent appropriations for the fiscal year ending June 30th, 2022. The resignation of Paraprofessional Sheila Roberts was also approved and made effective for August 6th, 2021. Classified and Substitute lists were then approved for the 2021-2022 school year.

The following individuals were then offered supplemental contracts for the 2021-2022 school year: James Zoltowski – Head Softball Coach and Dylan Nicely – EMS Wrestling Coach. The following individuals were then offered a non-teaching, one-year limited contract: Elizabeth Zeiler – Paraprofessional, Sarah Rogers – Paraprofessional, Joe Blystone – Paraprofessional, Jeff Abrams – Bus Driver.

Tiffany Spurgeon was then approved to be an EHS and EMS paid and or volunteer worker for the 2021-2022 school year. An increase of 2 hours per day for Sue Szabo, EES Paraprofessional was approved.

Authorization was then given to the Superintendent to enter into agreements with accredited colleges and universities with Educational Preparation Programs to allow for the placement of Education Preparation Students in the district.

Nora Kiefer was then approved to be the Evergreen Local Board of Education delegate and for Don Smith to act as alternate for the OSBA Annual Meeting at the OSBA Capital Conference on November 8th.

The board then approved pricing for the Fall High School Athletic Passes and for an Annual All Sports Family Pass for the 2021-2022 school year.

The board then approved an agreement with the Northwest Ohio Virtual Academy for licensing and or an online learning instructor for the administration of certain virtual course materials at an estimated cost of $5,800.

The following discussions then took place. Lindsey Piskac will be transferring to a four-hour bus route for this school year. An update was given on the renovation and expansion taking place.

The Extracurricular and Co-curricular Drug Testing policy was also discussed. An administrative report was then given. The report covered the Vikings Virtual Academy enrollment, Ohio Means

Jobs and Northwest State Community College Partnership offering, the Manufacturing Skills Standards Council program for at risk students in grades 11 and 12, and the Backordered Curriculum resources.

The Superintendent then informed every one of the work they are doing in regard to the possible formation of the EYA Partnership. The meeting was then adjourned.
