footballOpening up TAAC play, the Bombers of Edon also celebrated their Homecoming on Friday night.

Danbury made the trip to Edon for the occasion and, up until a late run in the second half, had a relatively quiet evening with only a few big plays putting them on the board.  The Bombers won the game 54-43.

Edon had a very balanced offensive assault, passing for 324 yards with 3 touchdowns and rushing for 262 with 4 touchdowns.  Conversely, Danbury was quite lopsided with their approach, netting 296 rushing yards and all 4 of their scores, while only passing for 28 and an interception.

The Bombers had two turnovers of their own, throwing two interceptions, though one was a trick play which sent quarterback Kaden Sapp downfield to receive a pass.  Danbury fumbled twice in addition to the pick thrown by their quarterback, giving them 3 turnover for the game.

Sapp led the Bombers in both passing and rushing, throwing for all 324 yards of the Edon aerial attack, as well as 192 of their rushing total.  He also threw for 2 Bomber touchdowns while connecting on 9 of his 21 passes, and ran the ball into the end zone for all 4 of the team’s rushing scores.

Early on,this game had the making of a blow out, as the Bombers went into halftime with a commanding 36-14 lead.  However, Danbury would go on to score another 14 points in the third quarter alone, putting up 15 in the fourth as well.

Edon always seemed to have an answer, though.  On Danbury’s second play in the third quarter, for example, their quarterback rushed for a very long touchdown run.  Sapp found Landon Bloir running free downfield on the ensuing possession, and the receiver waltzed into the end zone for one of his two touchdowns and a sizable chunk of his 211 yards on the night.

Edon ended the game with an interception, crushing Danbury’s hopes of a miracle comeback with less than two minutes to go in the game.

While Edon’s defensive rushing woes continued in this game, their offense was good enough to ensure a successful homecoming.
