The West Unity Village Council held their meeting on Thursday, November 11th at 7:30 p.m. The meeting was called to order followed by an opening prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance.

Council then moved to pay the bills as read and approve the minutes from the previous meeting that took place on October 14th.

The floor was then given to any visitors that were present and wished to speak with council before moving on to hear matters of legislation.

Council first heard Resolution 11-2021-18 which was in regard to the authorization of a then and now purchase order issued on November 12th, 2021, and the declaring of an emergency.

Council moved to pass this resolution followed by the hearing of Resolution 11-2021-19. This resolution was in regard to the authorization of an expenditure of $6,000 from the Village’s American Rescue Plan Act Fund for the purpose of compensating the village’s full-time employees for workplace hazards resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic and declaring it an emergency. This resolution was passed also and lead up to the final resolution for the evening.

Resolution 11-2021-20 was put forward and was in regard to the establishing of holiday hours pay-out and vacation hours pay-out for certain officers and employees of the village of West Unity for the 2021 calendar year and declaring it an emergency. Council moved to pass this resolution before moving to the Village Administrator’s report.

In addition to the administrators report, Roger Short asked council if he could put in a curb on North Main Street in front of his property.

Council agreed and stated that it would look nice and that he could go ahead and do it. In the police report, Chief Jones spoke about the Chamber Christmas parade.

He invited all council members to the event on December 4th at 5:30 p.m. A tree lighting and the announcing of citizen and business of the year will also be announced then.

Council then heard reports from other members present before reminding everyone that the next meeting will be held on December 9th at 7:30 p.m.

It was then decided that executive session would be entered into at 7:59 p.m. Upon return at 8:40 p.m. council adjourned for the evening.
