Montpelier Junior High Excels At Edgerton Invitational

September 30, 2014Updated:December 31, 2020No Comments2 Mins Read

(September 27th, 2014)-EDGERTON: Miller Park was quite kind to the girls of Montpelier.

With all four runners finishing in the top fifteen, the Lady Locos were able to procure third place at the Edgerton Invitational, scoring an 85 as a unit. As the Invitational hosted thirteen teams in total, that Locomotive team effort seems all the more striking.

The first Locomotive to complete the course was Brinn Miller, taking seventh place with a time of 14:52. Thirteenth, fourteenth, and fifteenth places all belonged to the Locos as well. Running a 15:15 netted Gabby Cox thirteenth place, while Lydia Grime crossed the finish line just four seconds later, at 15:19, earning fourteenth place. Another four seconds later, Kimme Engels finished fifteenth, clocking in at 15:23.

All four Montpelier girls received medals for top fifteen finishes.

Only having three runners on hand for the event, and going up against a greater number of competitors, the junior high boys of Montpelier were not able to make the same level of impact to the scoreboard as their female counterparts. Yet the Locomotive runners were able to perform well individually.

The fifth runner overall to step across the finish line, Loco Matthew McClaine finished the race at 11:17. Next for Montpelier was Gage Crisenberry and his time of 13:04, with Daniel Banks rounding out the Locomotive effort with a 14:11.
