Edon Handed Second BBC Loss, Both At The Hands Of Pettisville

October 10, 2014Updated:December 31, 2020No Comments2 Mins Read

(October 7th, 2014)-PETTISVILLE: The 10 digs and 7 kills of Nicole Newell weren’t enough to give the Lady Bombers a road victory at Pettisville.

In fact, it seems as though nothing can propel the Edon girls past the Lady Blackbirds this season. The Bombers currently display a proud 7-2 record against Buckeye Border Conference competition. Yet both of those losses came to the same team; Pettisville.

Game 1 went to the Blackbirds, as they took the set 25-15. Edon struggled mightily in the second set, with literally every bounce seeming to work against the Bombers. They dropped game 2 10-25. The girls from Edon attempted to rebound in the third game, but just couldn’t counter the Pettisville attack. The Lady Blackbirds claimed game 3 and the match 25-14.

Dana Fricke had a monster game for the Blackbirds, amassing 18 kills, 5 blocks, 3 digs, and 3 aces. Teammate Jordyn Pursel made an impressive 20 digs to go along with her 14 kills, while Kate Kauffman added 30 assists, 7 digs, 4 kills, and 2 aces to the Pettisville victory.

In the loss, Alex Kiess made 4 assists, 3 kills, and 2 digs for Edon. Teammate Kaela Gearhart also set up 4 assists on the evening, making 2 digs as well. Fellow Bomber Kaitlin Chrisman added 4 digs and 2 kills on the evening.

The loss drops Edon to 14-6 on the season, and the aforementioned 7-2 BBC record. For Pettisville, the win improves their record to 15-5 on the season, maintaining a perfect 9-0 mark in BBC play.
