Archbold Area Schools began their Monday night Board of Education meeting at 5:00 p.m. on April 18, with a call to order and the Pledge of Allegiance.

Auditor of State, Laurie Brodie presented the State Auditor Award to Archbold Board of Education for the year if 2021.

This award is given to entities that meet specific criteria during their financial audit. President Jeremy Hurst addressed Treasurer Christine Ziegler and stated, “We appreciate everything you do, the award is great, but it also says we’re here.”

Following approval of the agenda, the Board moved to an executive session mid-meeting at 5:08 p.m. that concluded at 6:17 p.m. during which Archbold Teachers agreed to a three-year contract starting August 1, 2022 through July 31, 2025.

Elementary Principal, Mrs. Lambert provided a report with an update on state testing, which ended April 15 for language arts and math. The Elementary class put on an Art and Music Show with the theme of “AS Diner” that was all food themed.

The fourth grade music class performed songs to close out the night. Lambert stated, “I just wanna thank all of our students for their hard work and Mrs. Cobb and Mrs. Gingerich.”

Archbold eighth grade class will go on their Washington, DC trip April 28 through May 1, 2022. Students will get to participate in the Wreath Laying Ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery and dinner cruise.

Mr. Short, High School Principal, gave a short report announcing on May 23 the high school will have their Scholarship Banquet at Founders Hall.

May 22 will be a busy day at Archbold High School, with the Industrial Art Show taking place in the gym along with the FFA turning seventy five. A Celebration for the FFA will be held in the cafeteria.

Jean and Joseph Rupp generously donated in memory of Bud and Margaret Rupp to the class funds for the middle school in the amount of five hundred dollars.

Another generous donation was made by a anonymous donor for the Archbold Football program of one thousand dollars.

The following personnel recommendations were approved:

•Approve one-year contract for Chloe Wotring as Elementary School Counselor for the 2022-2023 school year.

•Approve Cash Gericke as a volunteer football coach for the 2022-2023 school year.
