EVERGREEN BOARD OF EDUCATION: New Elementary Principal Chosen

The Evergreen Board of Education held a meeting on Monday, April 18th at 6:00 p.m. The meeting was called to order followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.

The board first moved to approve the minutes from the previous meeting that took place on March 21st. The March 2022 financial reports were then approved as well.

The anonymous donation of $100 to the Student Assistance Fund was then approved as well as the following appropriation modifications and amended resources.

The Increased Ohio K-12 Network Connectivity Grant for $5,400.00, the transfer ofr $27.09 from account 019-9011 to the SOS grant, the transfer of $96.48 from account 019-9039 to the SOS grant, the transfer of $715.60 from 019-9041 to the SOS grant, and the transfer of $350.00 from the Foreign Languages Club to HS Supplies.

Council then moved to approve non-renewed all supplemental and pupil service contracts such as coaches, club moderators, etc. for the 2021-2022 school year, effective at the conclusion of the current year before moving on to the following personnel items.


Accepted the resignation of Derick Stoup, Athletic Director, effective July 31, 2022. Accepted the resignation of Dan Curtis, EHS Principal, effective July 31, 2022.

Offered Alexis Howell a one-year limited teacher contract as Agricultural Teacher, effective with the start of the 2022-2023 school year, with an extended/additional twenty-five (25) days at per diem rate.

Offered Sheryl Brown a two-year administrative contract as Elementary Principal, effective August 1, 2022, with ten (10) transitional days at per diem rate. Approved Numerous summer school coordinators for a maximum of fifty hours each.


Approved Joe Blystone as a summer custodial worker as needed from May 30, 2022, until August 11, 2022, with compensation set at $12.00 per hour at a maximum of forty (40) hours per week.

Approved a three-year Negotiated Agreement between the Evergreen Local Board of Education and the Ohio Association of Public-School Employees (OAPSE) as recommended by the Board’s negotiation team and ratified by the association.

This agreement includes a .03 (3.00%) increase on the base salary in 2022-2023, a .025 (2.5%) increase on the base salary in 2024-2025, and a .02 (2%) increase on the base salary in 2024-2025.


It also provides a cap for future insurance premium increases to limit the employer’s share of the cost to provide health, vision, and dental insurance.

Authorized the superintendent and treasurer to accept the best bid from Cardinal Bus Sales & Service, Inc., in Lima, Ohio, and to purchase three (3) 72-passenger diesel powered buses at a cost of $288,717.00 ($96,239.00 each), less a total trade-in allowance of $5,800.00.

Approved an agreement with Northwest Ohio Educational Service Center (NWOESC) to cooperatively participate in special education services for fiscal year 2022-2023 at an estimated cost of $837,959.73.

The Board and NWOESC agree that $762, 959.73 of this amount shall be paid pursuant to ORC 3313.845 or applicable law by having this amount deducted from the Board’s state foundation payment, with any remaining balance being invoiced and paid directly to the NWOESC.

Board members then discussed issues an information with building administrators before moving to enter into executive session to consider the employment of public employees.

Following the board return, the meeting was adjourned for the evening.
